k&k episode 138 - the one brought to you by the letter M... and stuff...

We're thrilled to have yet more new guests in the Coffee Table Studio this week - this time around it's Axel and Michelle in episode 138! We have a host of interesting topics in today's episode, such as mojito making, mint crisp m&ms, meeting listeners, world travel and American geography lessons. Michelle tells us a little about how she found herself in France, then Axel talks about being a Frenchman in the US and about his experiences in the American university system, which turns into a debate about the respective merits of the different schooling systems around the world and whether higher education actually prepares you for the real world, and then we chat about the weird and wonderful concept of school rings, varsities, pep rallies and high school rivalries.

The sauce is baaaaaaack!!!

We got spirit, yes we do!
We got spirit, how bout you?

Wow, I'm cool...

You make a good point, KnK&guests, there really does seem to be less school spirit around these parts. Although, I do think some people in the US take it a liiiittle too far. Have you ever seen that ridiculous MTV show that I've never (cough, cough) watched called Two a Days with the football team and families? It's kinda scary!

Anyways, glad to see you're bringing "saucy back", I'll see if I can dig up my delish sangria recipe somewhere to add to your collection!

You girls are terrible, you never let Axel finish his sentences. I'm starting a revolution. Let the boys talk to the end of their sentences on the KnK show!

I wonder if I should start a petition on the forum.

;-)

Bob :

We're so glad you liked the M&Ms because I didn't try them before we gave them to you.
We had a bad experience with EasyJet from Toulouse to Paris.
What was the name of the site that has all the fantastic flight information?

@Leah -oh PLEASE share your sangria recipe with us! I love love love a good sangria!

@frog - LIES. You never let US finish our sentences!
Although I must confess it's a little bit mostly my fault about cutting Axel off. Hehe. But what he's saying is just so INTERESTING that I'm just BUSTING to get in my two cents worth!!!!

@Bob - skyscanner.com is the name of the site! And what was your bad easyjet experience?

The point I was trying to make is that I've done quite a few flights with easyjet and it's just... well, I've had good and bad experiences, although I have to say that I've had more good than bad. You can't expect a lot from a low-cost company. They have cheap prices and you have to expect them to cut corners where they can and have less flight services than other bigger airlines where you have to pay more for a service. I'm just glad that there are low-cost options out there that make travel cheaper and easier for lots more people.

Bob :

When we got to the airport in Toulouse, we were told that because we had two bags each, we would have to pay an extra €50. It would have been less expensive to fly Air France. And even then, we had to leave a day earlier than we wanted to save €400. We were not happy campers.

enjoyed it ladies! Interesting episode.

My husband had a rude awakening when he started college in the US. it was way different from his experience in Italy. I took him to my University once for a homecoming football game (Stefanos first football game ever) and while we lost, he was shocked that people just filed out of the stands in an orderly fashion. disappointed we had lost but just happily going home. that would never happen at an Italian soccer game.lol

Yay - mojitos!

ha!! Oh Axel will SO agree with Frog...but I will deny it to my grave! he. I do have a little bad habit of cutting people off...perhaps...not that I will totally admit it...but it's the same reason as Katia...I'm so excited about what someone is saying I've just GOT to share share share!!! ;)

OH...our easy jet experience was the worst...we avoid them now...

C/O 91 RUUUUULZ!!!!!!!!

ahem.

I wish I had been encouraged to do a gap year. I was really immature going into college and if I could do it again, I would make very different choices. Also, I had the privilege of going to a small, private college which my parents paid for, and they told me that I would graduate in four years POINT FINAL. I actually did have to go on an extra semester, which I paid for myself.

I took archery too, to fulfill my fitness requirement. :) My favorite course was Religion and Literature. Class of three philosophy students and me, majoring in Musical Theatre. That was sincerely the most thought provoking course I ever took.

Be careful not to confuse soda water with tonic water. They are different. Soda water (also known as club soda, sparkling water, or seltzer water) is just water with carbonation. Tonic water is (usually carbonated) water flavored with quinine, sugar and fruit extracts. The quinine makes it slightly bitter.

Speaking of highschool in America, Katia, have you seen "the Breakfast Club"?

Can I just say I listened to this episode on the plane and was SO bummed that I didn't listen to it before hand so that I could've bought some minty M&M's before leaving!! :-(

PS. I took bowling as a class.
