k&k episode 142 - the one where they pride themselves on sharing the Tim Tam love... and stuff...
We've got biscuits on the brain in episode 142, and regale you with stories of Kolenda slamming Tim Tams across the world (and he did it!), froggy dinners (with more Tim Tam slams!), Thai kings and kitschy port. We spend some time talking about Moo cards and a new Gadabout article that Kylie participated in about being an Assistant in France, then Katia tells about the one time she got detention, and we chat a bit about Facebook friends and do a WITWATAP update.
This episode was brought to you by the word "une carte de visite" (a business card).
And we've got lots of adventures planned! We're having an apéro-picnic on Saturday 24 May and we're going to see Mamma Mia on Friday 11 July - if you want to join in on any or all of these adventures (and more on our events page), let us know!
Kolenda did the Tim Tam slam! And so did we!
Check out Moo!
And have a listen to one of the latest Gadabout articles that Kyliemac helped out on, all about being an Assistant in France.
And as usual, keep up with Tracey and Pierre's adventures over at Red February
Talk about perfect timing with getting my video posted!
Talk about perfect timing with getting my video posted too!
I'm just wondering why they didn't call them Tim-Tams in the USA too? What cultural reference do you think they're trying to avoid??
OK...annoying...I know...another comment!!...but...you guys...let's face the hard truth: BOTH Facebook AND Myspace are juvenile! ;) Am I the only one that gets annoyed when someone who has my regular email address instead goes through the trouble of going in and and emailing me in Facebook, and then I get spam in my regular email box, and then I have to go sign in and read their message...why not just email me at my regular account? OK...will get off my soap-box now... ;)
I don't understand, twice I've left a comment and twice it hasn't shown up.
I'm spreading the Tim Tam love on Monday 'm having an 'Australian Food' party with a group of 10 year olds from one of my classes. We're going to have tim tams, lamingtons, vegemite and anzac biscuits. I couldn't think of any other Australian foods!
what? What? WHAT?
lamingtons??? anzac biscuits?
what are these?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
are these more glorious australian treasures that katia's been hiding from us ignorant americans???
ok. just to clarify i am NOT saying ALL americans are ignorant. many of us are just DEPRIVED in the knowledge of the tasty goodness of many edible australian treasures.
Lamingtons...i LOVE lamingtons! Also Katia you so need to import some mint slice and fantails too. They might be called 'caramels' by Kyliemac?
When i lived in France we had an Australia Day party, we made lamingtons, had a BBQ and tried to find white bread to wrap the snags in but no French bread was quite right. And we tried to make a green salad and find cubes of a cheese that tastes like Coon...but alas France is far too gourmet :)
MINT SLICE!!!
I just got a friend request on facebook from someone 2 days ago I knew in high school, but we were NEVER friends. I spent a couple days deciding and decided to ignore it.
do you think it's just people trying to build their friend lists up?
You said the wine was called Jacaroo(?), but when we went to Nicolas in Lyon (it was just across the street from our apartment) they had Yellowtail wines, which we buy all the time in the US but were really surprised to find in France. We have since seen it here in Paris also.
@Bob - I think different Nicolas have different wines, but ours also has Yellowtail. To be honest, this is yet another wine that is made for export, and we don't drink it in Australia! Strange, isn't it? :)
@Genevieve - it's highly likely. I have had the same hesitation at times!
@Bliss - I LOVE lamingtons, but the only solution here is for me to MAKE them and that's a lot of fluffing. I have done it a couple of times though. Perhaps I need to think about it for our next picnic ;)
@Letigre - tim tam themed day. you're doing Australia proud ;)
@Michelle - you and your myspace/facebook rants. LOL. I just think facebook is a great way to have all my friends in one place and spend all day poking them ;)

i LOVE Moo cards! I just got mine a month or so ago (pic on my blog). I think they are so cool and exciting for pictures! I am going to send you 2 of mine when I mail over the Jackalope postcard. hehe
of course I will send that to you - its an important icon. lol
