k&k episode 290 - the one where they talk about eating mushrooms... or not... and stuff...
In episode 290, Katia gets very excited as she recounts a tale of gastronomy, fancy-pants-ness and a celebration of mushrooms. Add in a few prickles and a bit of hospital drama, and you've got a somewhat interesting episode.
This episode was brought to you by the word "la gastronomie" (gastronomy).
Katia spent almost the entire episode talking about dining at Le Clos des Cimes, owned by Jacques & Régis Marcon, in Saint-Bonnet-le-Froid - a really incredible dining experience in a fancy yet down-to-earth location in the heart of France. Check out the photos (and the blog entry)!
Ha! I haven't listened yet, but I love already that the description claims this to be "a somewhat interesting episode." You've got me sold already, les filles!
I think the real reason I fear and loathe fungi & molds (with the exception of blue cheese mold of course) is that I'm afraid of breathing in the spores and coughing up mushrooms instead of the run-of-the-mill phlegm (and thereby getting that horrid taste in my nostrils AND mouth.)
Plus...they just grow too fast like those pods in Invasion of the Body Snatchers. It rains one day and overnight -- your lawn is covered in toadstools & mushrooms. No thanks for Mr. Toad's Wild Ride or Alice in Wonderland for me.
Kinda like how the alien burst out of the thorax of John Hurt in "Alien" or Natacha Hendsridge in "Species"...it's like they're an anathema of nature.
If those people at that wonderful restaurant are mushroom devotees...be afraid. They could be planning the destruction of mankind via those death spores.
