k&k episode 38 - the one where they talk about the string mafia... and stuff...
In episode 38 it's all about magic pens, eggs on hamburgers, first-time visitors to France, the Amélie café, Sacre Coeur, Montmartre and free hugs.
This episode was brought to you by the word "funiculaire" (funicular/cable-car).
I'm not paying anyone anything for something I did not request. And, I'm very particular about my personal "area" and I'm NOT the nicest person when someone's rude or obnoxious with me. I can't even imagine this guy kicking me. Unbelievable.
Happy birthday dear Katia! Ok, I need to know what the big deal about magic pens is and what is a magic pen anyway? Because I must admit I knod of switch off mentally everytime you discuss the topic. Is it a fountain pen or is it something else? As Sam says, all French kids use fountain pens with ink that can be erased. I didn't know it was not the case in other countries!! oh and I think I spotted some Frenglish in the post: is the word "formation", used by Kylie, really used in English to mean "training" the way we mean it in French? If it is, then I've learnt something.Last but not least, I second Sam and INSIST on hearing you two podcast FROM the Sexodrome. PS: C'mon, you know you want to...;-)
Katia, you are a traitor to your origins for saying erasers instead of rubbers. Just make the Americans wonder and give them a shock!
I'd never used one before coming to France, so I thought they were always that way. My kids used them all the time in class too.You are able to write with the pen, and then you have this separate pen that has an "effaceur" at one end and a "rŽŽcriveur" at the other so you can write over what you just erased. It's pretty nifty! You can get a cheap set from Carrefour for 2Û, with the pen, magic pen, and extra cartouches d'encre.
Ang - Nooooo. I will defend the beetroot on the hamburger, right until my last breath. Even if I don't actually like it myself. just on principle. hehe. And btw, thankyou for the birthday wishes :)Small Madeleine - we suspect that they are not sold in the US, which may be why you can't find the website. But they could be named something else (here they're called Pilot Frixion pens)... if you find out, let us know!Sam - are you serious? Erasable ink mountain pens? Really? I'm astounded... I'd never seen it before. And at school they certainly weren't erasable.Kolenda - you made me LAUGH OUT LOUD and Symphony totally freaked out. Point taken.
Sexodrome?!? Heck yes!!!! Time to start the "Video" podcast!!And Katia, I was very confused when you started talking about fish and chips on the beach with some strange man. Until I realized: IT WAS THE MUFFIN MAN'S SECRET IDENTITY!!! Cut that out! He's the Muffin Man. Period. End of story.LoveKolenda
Oh, Katia bon anniversaire. And many more. The Bold Soul outed you.On second thought, eggs on hamburgers...breakfastburgers doesn't sound too bad. I'm with you, sort of. *^*Ang04
Maybe I'm just not getting the point of the magic pens, but when it comes to fountain pens, aren't they all erasable? I used them for two years while taking notes ˆ la fac and had a special pen that erased the ink.PS. I vote that next time, you podcast live FROM the sexodrome!!
Where is the site for the US magic pens? I found the UK site, but I cannot find the US site.
The difference between the erasable magic pens and the fountain pens + eraser/rewriter combo is that with the magic pens, you use the same pen and can erase and rewrite as many times you want. Plus you don't have to switch pens. With the fountain pen eraser pen you can erase once, then use the pen to rewrite once, and then you are done. If you need to fix it again, you're stuck using white-out or crossing out and starting again with the fountain pen in a new space of your paper.Plus I just hate fountain pens, they weird me out.In terms of burgers, I would never eat beets on a hamburger because I don't really like beets... the texture is a bit weird. But I enjoy guacamole on a burger. But then again, there isn't much I don't enjoy guac on. Mmmm guac.

Oh, I'm sorry but I am with Ms. Mac. Whwhat? Beetroots on hamburgers? Sorry, but I come from the land of "In and Out" and "Tommys" burgers, and that's soooo wrong. Tommys especially where they slop on the thickest chili, on top of a thick wedge of tomato and onion. Yummm. The Original Tommys is in South Central, LA, but some burgers are worth the risk. Just can't imagine beetroot stuck in the middle of all that. Noooo.Oh, and the hug campaign? Please check out the story that started it all. It's really touching.www.freehugscampaign.org/ Thanks for the fun podcast.Ang04
