k&k episode 432.5 - the one where they learn all about snail farming... in French... and stuff...
And now for something completely different! In episode 432.5 we find ourselves in the middle of the country, visiting a snail farm and doing our very first interview entirely en français with the lovely Mme Rosanne Fabbio, snail farmer! This means that there is a special 20-25 minute section of this episode which is exclusively in French, so if you don't speak French, just skip ahead to our summary of the interview which is in English. You get to hear all the charm of the country, with birdsong, wind blowing and tractors revving, and we find out about the nitty gritty of what it's like to be a snail farmer in France, and learn all about the life cycle of the snail. It's fascinating. Really. We then chat (in English this time) about a visit we did later in the day to a very unusual church in Saint-Bonnet-le-Château, which features some very unusual sights.
This episode was brought to you by the word "héliciculture" (snail farming).
Mme Rosanne Fabbio is the lovely snail farmer who welcomed us and showed us around her property (and introduced us to many of her snails). Visit her if you're in the region! Phone first (she's not always around) and tell her we sent you, and do check out her recipes too!
Mme Rosanne Fabbio : Sabonnaire, 42240 Saint Maurice en Gourgois - Tel. 04 77 50 37 08
We also went to Saint-Bonnet-le-Château where we visited the famous church, discovered the fabulous frescos and met the mummies! Yep. You read that correctly.
Photos coming shortly!
Please forgive our imperfect French. We are learning. Which means we make mistakes. The important thing is that we're trying, right? :)
