k&k episode 59 - the one where, thanks to fwab, you all find out a bit more about the REAL katia and kyliemac... and stuff...
In episode 59, Katia and Kyliemac are giddy with excitement over the first time appearance of their special guest host, Frog with a Blog.
Punctuated by a tremendous amount of giggling, we cover topics such as accents, distances, muffins, butter on bread, goûter, real French people, how we come up with our "dear...", politics and Tim Tams.
This episode is brought to you by the word "délicieux" (delicious).
Ahhhh, I see what you're getting at with the bread thing. They do that here for gouter or for toast, yeah. Makes more sense now.
But are we talking buttered bread with a meal or buttered toast?I don't butter the bread I eat with a meal but I butter my toasts in the morning and so do most French people. And Kim, let's start the SVHM (Screw Visiting Home Movement). Another T-shirt idea.
Very confused... what happened to episode 58? Has it disappeared forever?Totally understand what Frog is saying about "screw visiting 'home'". I constantly try to explain to David that for me, going back to the states is not really "vacation", even if we take a little road trip etc. David just thinks I'm crazy and a lil' bit spoiled. Hmmmph."Prettier in real life" is far better than "yeah you were cute on flickr... what happened?"UHHHHH, Frog! I've never seen anyone butter their bread here! I figured it was because we're already eating six times our daily recommended values of butter in our sauces, etc.ARGH THE SPEAKING AMERICAN THING MAKES ME TYPE IN ALL CAPS!!!
LIIIIIIIIIIEEEESSS!!! Frog with a blog (aka the retarded American): That's a LIIIIIEEEEEEEE!I'm a Thai expat living in Germany, went to NZ for high school and the only thing I have about Aussies is the fact that they're Aussies and not Kiwis. Nothing at all about their Aussie English....I've never thought of Aussies not speaking English, but Aussie....okay, yeah, well, they speak Aussie....and yeah, having spent time in NZ, I LUV Tim Tams! Absolument delicieux!BTW, LOVE Frog's voice!
Katia my Deah, I have rarely heard you sounding soooooo excited!
Speaking of butter on muffins, I've seen people requesting butter on muffins, cut in half, buttered and toasted cut side down on a hot grill, in NY delis. It is yum.
I know, I know!!!According to an old medieeeval Podcast legend, episode 58 should always be skipped as 5+8=13 and we all know what 13 stands for. If episode 58 had been recorded, then 2 virgins would have had to be burnt alive in order to fight the evil cyber spirits brought by #13. But since our hostesses certainly don't know where to find that many virgins, then episode 58 had to be skipped. But I'm sure other people know about other legends too.
And I've seen French people butter their bread at breakfast, but never at other meal times. It's funny that you guys brought this up, because all of my co-workers who have been to France so far have commented on the fact that the restaurants gave us bread but no butter at lunch and dinner.
No!!! Now I must know what is the deal with the missing mystery episode!!!
Since doing this episode, I have thought long and hard about this bread buttering business. I've seen people butter bread in the morning at breakfast. And when eating oysters. And with baby radishes. But that's it. I think that goes along with what FwaB said.I LOVE the SVHM tshirt idea. teehee!@Vivi darling, isn't his voice sublime?@Victoria - it is NO WORRIES in the world and we are THRILLED to shout out to people.@Jess - Aww, thanks for the shoutout. And I'm so glad you're enjoying the show and that we helped you get through the trauma that is building Ikea furniture ;)@Texas espresso - internet love. hehe. it cracks me up. we love the internet love.Um... 58...? What about 58? *whistles innocently*
Yeah, where is episode 58? I just got back and was downloading the podcasts put up while I was gone, and noticed 58 was not there...

First time commenting but I have been listening to you guys for a while... keep meaning to comment but always forget when I am back in front of my computer!Anyway! Just wanted to say thanks for the podcast in general. Today though, you made the hours bonding with Ikea instructions and my screwdriver a little less agonizing. ;)I just recommended you guys on my new website, Ravelry.com- there is a forum thread about podcasts and I had to give you a "shoutout" (in your words. heh

But what about butter, bread and radishes? Or is that just around here?Oh Frog, it's glorious to hear your dulcet tones in my earphones! I'm so happy to hear you! (And K&K too, meh whatever it's their show ;))I love the native American thing. On my CV, I have "amŽricaine native," which gives me no end of pleasure. Can't wait for the next one! :D
