k&k episode 103 - the one where they talk about t-shirt ideas... and stuff...
It is our pleasure to finally announce the winner of the t-shirt competition, but you'll have to listen to episode 103 to find out which one it is! We discuss Alice sightings, then Kyliemac gets into a bit of a university update, we talk about blockages and strikes, then we chat about some of our plans for next year!
This episode was brought to you by the word "l'université" (university).
Listen to this episode to find out who won the t-shirt idea competition!
We'll be putting up a list of the t-shirt ideas and the names of the people who submitted them, so watch this space!
Kylie isn't the only one who has suffered blockages at university or school - Kim has and so has Sam
And have a look at Gadabout Paris if you want to get a little idea of what we're going to be up to in the new year!
Congratulations to the winner! I admit I had never heard the word waggish before I found it in the thesaurus under funny and I liked the way it sounded. However, Katia knew the word so now I'm curious if this is a word people actually use on a regular basis (somewhere in the world).
I understood Waggish as in Wife and Girlfriend (Football):S!A couple of years back in England, our University lecturers went on strike for 6 months, they came into work, but refused to mark or look at any bodys work, I remember that alot of people graduated late because their dissertations hadn't been marked, or had a second marker look at them. They wanted to be paid more and have a wage which went up everyyear like secondary school teachers. My lecturer secretly told us our marks so we would know how we were doing, but so many people had to wait.Emily
Those are DOMs, I believe, but aren't you saying TOMs? I listened twice...I'm not sure but I think it stands for Domaine Outre Mer, or something like that. Like Guadeloupe and etc...Big fat congratulations on 100 episodes, and please tell me where I can hear about the police visiting Katia during the carte de sŽjouor stuff!
Oooh Emily, you are too funny about Wag="Wife and Girlfriend" hehe. My dad says things like "you silly wag" ALL THE TIME. So it's definitely a word that is part of my vocabulary. Joy, the're called DOM-TOM, or "dŽpartements d'outre-mer and territoires d'outre-mer". I'm not sure what the difference between a department and a territory is, but I'm sure I could come up with a theory if you wanted me to. But perhaps someone more enlightened than me can tell us what it means ;)Oooooh and my police and the carte de sŽjour story. Good question. I am PRETTY SURE that we talked about it, but I'll have to really rack my brains to remember which one it was. Perhaps Miss K-mac knows?
You girls need more listeners like Mia. She is a wonderful listener with TASTE!I remember hearing about the Police intervention in one of your episodes. I hadn't met you guys yet and I pictured Katia looking like some kind of scary junky that justified the police's visit. As far as DOM TOM are concerned, a DOM is just a regular French department, like Seine-Maritime or Hauts de Seine, the only difference is that it's located far from Metropolitan France: there are only 4: Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyane and RŽunion. The TOMs are French territories that enjoy some sort of autonomy, they often have their own currency and some own laws. Many of the TOMs ask for independence and nobody can blame them for that as belonging to a country that actually barely knows they exist is a real waste of time for everybody. You see, delicious Mia was right, you should invite me more often,-)Kisses
Do you see? This program IS educational !!Thanks frogwithasnog.
This year, we had three years of blockades, which normally will result in us finishing a week later than usual, because: Usually we have a "semaine blanche", during which we don't have classes, enabling us to study for the 14 different exams we're going to have, which has now been cancelled.Usually, our exams are taken over a period of two weeks, which will now be over the course of one week. Resulting in the following (yet still missing a few exams) schedule:http://www.flickr.com/photos/francophony/2132706023/I may faint. We'll see.

Wahoo!!!I'm honored and humbled. (and happy to hear Katia talk about Alice!)
