k&k episode 179 - the one where they continue discussing the link between personality and language... and stuff...
After the interesting discussions we had in episode 177, we decided to get Sigmund Frog in the CTS for episode 179, to talk about the ways we communicate and how we get our personalities across in French vs English. We do an intervention and reassure Kylie that her French is much better than she thinks, we talk for a long time about the definition of fluency and bilingualism, Frog talks about his own experiences in Swedish, English and French, and he also makes some interesting observations about the way we all speak French.

Inspired by a blog post by Justin, we get reflective in episode 177, talking about the link between personality and language. We talk about how hard it can be to learn a language, the importance of humour, the challenges in getting ones personality across, and how comfortable we feel "being ourselves" in French. We round up the episode rather flippantly with a discussion of the many and varied rules of chinking in France.

k&k episode 164 - the one where they share some of their language learning adventures... and stuff...
Kathryn and Séb (yes! we managed to convince him!) are with us in the Coffee Table Studio for episode 164 (yet again a little something we prepared earlier)! We chat about some of our experiences learning French and we talk about the importance of native speakers when learning a language, then Kathryn and Séb, as a Franco-American couple, tell us some stories about some of the language barriers they faced when they were first going out.

In episode 152, we read a postcard we received from one of our favourite brits and kylie shows us one of her senior year pictures, then we discuss some of the highlights of the k&k picnic, including encounters with fishermen, displays of superpowers and meeting lovely new listeners and catching up with old favourites. We get excited about a review someone left about Learn French on itunes, then Kylie tells us some stories involving hearing certain Learn French phrases in use, and we discuss translating certain English expressions into French and our different experiences of native speakers correcting our French. We wrap up the episode with an update on Kyliemac's thesis results and a quick discussion about Disney.

k&k episode 141 - the one where they discuss the price of chilli sauce in France... and stuff...
Episode 141 starts off with Rhino75's adorably English accent and Katia getting mighty confused over the origins of Br'er Rabbit and Kyliemac telling us which was her favourite Judy Blume book. We have a chat with Steve about his reasons for staying in France, his experiences in moving here and his connections with the stars and theatrical predilections, then we talk about the Green Card Lottery, spam, teaching English, dissecting language and literature and tenses, and the way that the French language is taught in schools as opposed to the way English is taught in schools. Steve then tells us a little bit about his perception of "culture shock" and "reverse culture shock", and just after we talk about the price of chilli sauce in Paris and the concept of "home", we think about telling you all a secret. You'll have to listen to find out what it is!

k&k episode 122 - the one where they discuss singing in English... and stuff...
We're very excited about the 2008 edition of Nouvelle Star in episode 122, and we spent quite a bit of time talking about the new jury and poor attempts to sing in English, then we chat a bit about Kyliemac's debate topics in her oral language class, dubbing on television (again), text message ads, Katia's holiday plans in Venice, and president Sarkozy's hopes to get French cuisine listed as a Unesco world heritage item.

k&k episode 115 - the one where they reveal what's been up their sleevesies... and stuff...
Episode 115 is a bit exciting for us (as we exclaim 60 million times during the episode, wanna count?), because we're revealing what's been up our sleevesies for the last few months. New site! New look! New podcasts for your listening pleasure! Then after we rant about all these things for a while, we get into the usual stuff : a discussion of sales in France, shopping and pronounciations of certain words, then we revisit the topic of crêpes for a bit. (ps. it's a pity we found out about Sarkozy's wedding AFTER we casted this weeks episodes, but never fear, lovely peeps, we'll be plunging ourselves into the gossip next week!)

k&k episode 106 - the one where they argue about the meaning of words... again... and stuff...
One of our favourite episodes is one from quite some time ago (episode 5 to be exact), and it was all about Words - the different words we use in our respective countries for the same things. In this extra-long holiday special of the podcast, we decide to revisit this much-loved topic, and spend quite a bit of time arguing about the different words we use in reference to food. We tend to make some sweeping generalisations about France and the French on this show, so it's nice to get a "real" Frenchman in to set us straight occasionally. With Tracey and Pierre back in the CTS, we chat about some interesting topics in episode 104, such as the pronounciation and choice of names in English and French, English classes and learning English in France, and for some strange and unknown reason, we deviate completely from the topic in true k&k style and talk about the phenomenon that is "French judge school".
