k&k episode 423 - the one where they discuss house-hunting, housewives and andouillette... and stuff...

We continue chatting with Ann Mah about the life of the diplomat's partner in episode 423, as we discuss what it's like to be constantly on the move, with a new post every few years. We talk about her current house-hunting project, which naturally brings us to the subject of the Real Housewives, then she gives us a glimpse into her current writing project, and we chat about andouillette and other weird and wonderful French dishes!

k&k episode 414 - the one where they talk Valentines and holidays... and stuff...

In episode 414 we're thrilled to chat to our lovely friend Steve, and whilst we sip mimosas and munch on oatmeal cookies, we discuss a wide range of topics such as Valentines Day, declarations of love and the worst presents we've ever received (or given), then we chat about Sarkozy's recent decision that all French ministers should give priority to holidaying in France.

k&k episode 406 - the one where they talk about christmas karaoke and vampire museums... and stuff...

We're rather excited to be recording our first show for 2011 in episode 406, and after chatting about galette, Kylie tells us all about what she did over the holiday season, including taking care of Symphony, celebrating Christmas with Frog's parents, hanging out with listener Variri, the musée de l'art forain and the musée des vampires!

k&k episode 397 - the one where they talk about crazy teachers and christmas dilemmas... and stuff...

In episode 397 Kylie tells us all about her mysterious teacher at La Sorbonne, and as the stories become more and more unbelievable we just have to wonder who really is this teacher? Kylie tells us about her plans for the holiday season, then presents us with a present-related dilemma, and Katia gets excited about heading back to Australia for the holidays, and we talk about airport pickups, pool fun and in-flight entertainment.

k&k episode 392 - the one where they talk about the dangers behind blowing up balloons... and stuff...

In episode 392 we introduce you all to the charming Ryan, and we talk about the highly dramatic injury he sustained in the name of k&k. He tells us where he comes from in England, and we chat about the language assistantship program which brought him to France, and get into a lengthy discussion about the French education system and whether the various school systems we have experienced encourage creativity in activities like art and music. We reminisce about some off-air adventures we've had with Ryan, and then he tells us a rather hilarious story about Kylie and a noise problem!

k&k episode 390 - the one where they discuss french gastronomy and unesco... and stuff...

We get rather excited in episode 390 as we talk about all the recent guests we've had on the show and the guests to come, then we what about the fascinating topic of French gastronomy, the recent addition of the "gastronomic meal of the French" to the Unesco list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the differences between our native cultures and the French culture of eating (how the meal is eaten and the purposes behind the meal), then we chat about other entries on the Unesco list in France and around the world.

k&k episode 381 - the one where they talk about beer, salted butter caramel and jinxing... and stuff...

We get into an enthusiastic discussion about beer in episode 381, which leads to some interesting suggestions for some future k&k Get Cultured adventures, Katia makes an apology, then talks about her recent trip to Nantes and the region of the Pays de la Loire, including the discovery of caramel au beurre salé and the usual mushroom dramas. Then we talk at great length about the childhood games like "jinx" and "punch buggy" and their equivalents in Australia, the US and France, as well as unusual customs in different countries, then Katia reveals some strange Australian childhood customs.

k&k episode 326 - the one where they talk about the military and tim tams... and stuff...

Frog is still wreaking havoc in the k&k boudoir in episode 326, as we talk about an email from a lovely listener, the once-obligatory military service in France, tim tam revolutions, Scottish accents the Highlander pub, s&m parties and Suze, how Katia corrupts American men and toilet paper.

k&k episode 322 - the one where they talk about songs, scots, suze and stands... and stuff...

In episode 322 we get to talking about songs, losing earrings, Bejewelled Blitz, the Highlander, drunken Scottish boys, suze, Paris moments, taxi rides, mike stands.

k&k episode 304 UNPLUGGED - the one where they contemplate cadeaux and coal... and stuff...

We're still excited about the holiday season in episode 304, and get to chatting about how Christmas is celebrated in different countries, eating coal, tags on Christmas presents and visiting (or not) private castles.

k&k episode 303 UNPLUGGED - the one where they eat and drink their way through Christmas... and stuff...

We're in the country for episode 303, as we talk about what we've done for Christmas, and get tremendously excited about what we've eaten (foie gras, chapon and bûche, just to name a few) and what we've drank (including red wine from Bordeaux, pink Champagne, cognac and old man's jam).

k&k episode 302 - the one where they get excited about christmas... and stuff...

We're in the holiday mode in episode 302, and we get to talking about Christmas - the price of trees, decorations, Christmas windows in the department stores, Christmas markets and ferris wheels and our plans for the holidays. We then chat about cannelé and world monopoly, then Kylie tells us about her French movie discovery of the week (être et avoir).

k&k episode 295 UNPLUGGED - the one where they record from the room formerly known as the coffee table studio... and stuff...

In episode 295 Katia gives an update on her arm, there is much chatting about television shows (Monk, Fringe, X-Files, Lost, X-Factor), spoilers and commercials, and we get distracted by Symphony a number of times. We talk about Kylie's dress sense, movie-watching, traditional thanksgiving foods and thankfulness, and Kylie tells us some stories of cooking with the boys, then Katia gets excited about Christmas decorations and Symphony's brand twitter account.

k&k episode 292 - the one where they spend an inordinate amount of time discussing television shows...

It's all about pop culture in episode 292, as we talk about glitter, zombie movies, the swine flu, song parties and how on earth Kylie actually knows something about one current musical artist. Kylie then tells us about her computer woes and we get very distracted by talking about some of our favourite tv shows (The Office, HIMYM, Glee, True Blood, Lost, Eastwick,...), and we finish off by chatting a bit about Thanksgiving.

In episode 290, Katia gets very excited as she recounts a tale of gastronomy, fancy-pants-ness and a celebration of mushrooms. Add in a few prickles and a bit of hospital drama, and you've got a somewhat interesting episode.

We're thrilled to have the lovely Vivi in the studio for episode 249. We chat about the famous frog chair, Vivi's adorable accent and cute hair, limo services, the Château de Vincennes, bouchons from Troyes, what we're all going to do, bring and eat as we travel this summer, "ren fairs", the Provins medieval festival, medieval taverns and clubs.

k&k episode 224 - the one where they talk about birthday obligations and how to eat hot dogs... and stuff....

There's a lot of rantage happening in episode 224, as we discuss the superstitions around Friday 13th and birthday obligations, and we cover Kyliemac's public shaming. We also talk about getting your fingers caught in the métro doors and experiences with ticket controllers, the way we've seen French people eat hot dogs and hamburgers, and the best job in the world.

k&k episode 214 - the one where they discuss valentines and friday the 13th... and stuff...

With The Justin still hanging about the Coffee Table Studio, we tackle a number of serious issues in episode 214 : how to deal with zombie invasions, how things come to be named, Valentines Day and Friday the 13th and how they're viewed in France, when and how one should bise the bar girl and how to deal with telemarketers. And then we make a special announcement.

In episode 212 we discuss headphones, couch surfing and zombies, which leads to Kylie describing some new and exciting child-rearing techniques she has been employing recently, the galette des rois and chandeleur.

We're pleased to annouce the return (although not quite to form) of k&k in episode 207! It's pure k&k goodness in episode 199, as we engage in discussions about our favourite m&ms, the advantages of carrying around a crutch, thanksgiving in France and how to find a turkey in Paris. We revisit the hugging and kissing debate, then Kyliemac tells Katia all about Black Friday sales, and we talk about snow, Christmas decorations, caroling at Notre Dame and Christmas wishlists. Katia does a toe update then asks Kylie if she can shed some light on the way Americans make phone calls in tv and movies. This leads us into a discussion of the way we communicate across the world has changed in the last couple of years, and we reveal the intern showdown that may be happening in episode 200, then Kylie tells us about her upcoming holiday to Normandy and we talk about some book signings.

k&k episode 171 - the one where they talk about hunting mushrooms, cheese spiders and squirrels... and stuff...

In episode 171 we talk about visiting the Muffin Man's parents and the skills required when hunting mushrooms, how to identify cheese spiders and how to spot squirrels in the gardens of a château. We discuss our adventures in the forest and at the market, how Kyliemac felt being part of a "French family", and we talk about eating outside, the importance of long mealtimes for the French and discovering childhood toys in France.
